Hi, I’m Kiera Murphy, Founder & Camp Director of Camp Vertica. Climbing has shaped so much of who I am. I began as a youth competitor, training for several years on Team Stone Summit Atlanta (Team CRG), where I developed not only technical skills but also a deep love for the discipline, focus, and community the sport creates. What started as a hobby quickly became something bigger, a way to challenge myself and build resilience.

Today, I coach the Youth Climbing Team at Center 45 Climbing & Fitness in Boone, North Carolina, and have held leadership roles at established summer camps in Estes Park, Colorado, and Brevard, North Carolina. Through coaching and outdoor education, I’ve seen how powerful it is when young people are given real responsibility, real challenge, and real support. Camp Vertica was born from my own experience growing up in the gym and wishing I’d had earlier access to climbing outside. My goal is simple: to help every camper leave stronger than they arrived, not just as climbers, but as people.

I can’t wait to climb with you in the mountains.

Hi, I’m Addy! I started climbing at a young age and quickly fell in love with the creativity and challenge the sport offers. I’ve been climbing for over 10 years, including 8 years competing at a high level with multiple National appearances.

For the past 4 years, I’ve coached youth athletes through team practices, summer camps, and private lessons, including 3 years at Stone Summit (Team CRG). My time on the youth competition circuit shaped my work ethic and deepened my understanding of movement and mental strength, which now guide my coaching.

I currently coach at Center 45 Climbing & Fitness, where I strive to create an environment where climbers feel supported, challenged, and excited to grow.

Outside of coaching, I’m a student at Appalachian State University and have shifted more of my focus toward outdoor climbing. Climbing on real rock continues to teach me patience, resilience, and respect for the process. These are lessons I bring into my coaching every day.
